Our Story and Mission
A group of community members in Brazoria County started Brazos Place in 1993. The goal was straightforward: give adults on the Gulf Coast a real place to get sober when they had nowhere else to turn.
In 2016, ADAPT Foundation, Inc. assumed operations of the program. The name stayed. The mission stayed. Brazos Place still exists for the same reason it was founded over 30 years ago: to give people struggling with addiction the structure, support, and clinical care they need to get clean and stay that way.
The program has grown since 1993, but the philosophy has not drifted. Every part of treatment is built around helping patients understand their addiction, change the behaviors that feed it, and walk out with a recovery plan that holds up in the real world.

One Organization, Every Level of Care
Most rehab facilities do one thing. They might run a detox program, or they might run a residential program, but patients end up bouncing between different providers at every stage. Brazos Place is set up differently. The organization covers the full continuum of addiction recovery under one roof, allowing patients to progress through each level of care without having to start over elsewhere.
Detox
Medical detox lasting three to five days with around-the-clock supervision by licensed staff. This is the first step for patients with moderate to severe substance use disorders.

Learn MoreOur Treatment Philosophy
A Strengths-Based Recovery Model
The clinical team at Brazos Place does not treat patients like a list of problems to fix. The program follows a strengths-based recovery model, meaning it identifies what each person already brings to the table, such as resilience, family bonds, work ethic, or past periods of sobriety, and builds on those things instead of only focusing on what went wrong. That approach does something clinical lectures alone cannot do. It gives patients a reason to believe they can actually pull this off.
Gender-Specific Treatment
Men and women are treated at separate facilities. This is not a marketing angle. Addiction affects men and women differently, both biologically and socially. Gender-specific programming gives patients space to work through trauma, behavioral triggers, and personal barriers alongside others who share similar experiences. The Freeport facility treats men. The Clute facility treats women.
Dual-Diagnosis Care
Substance abuse rarely shows up alone. Many patients are also dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, or other co-occurring mental health conditions. Brazos Place treats the addiction and the underlying mental health condition together instead of bouncing patients between disconnected programs.
