Drug Rehab for Men

Drug addiction rarely shows up clean. Most men who walk into the Freeport facility are not only dealing with the substance itself. They are managing anxiety that has been running unchecked for years, or depression they have never named as such, or trauma they filed somewhere and tried not to revisit. The substance was the solution to something else before it became the problem.

The drug rehab program for men at Brazos Place in Freeport uses a dual-diagnosis model. The clinical team treats the substance use disorder and the co-occurring mental health condition at the same time, in the same program. Not in sequence. Not by referral to a different facility. Both together with the same team.

Addressing the Challenges Men Face

Men experience addiction differently. The path into substance use often runs through specific social and professional pressures. The path out requires different work than it does for women. An all-male residential environment removes the social performance layer that tends to keep men from being direct about what is actually going on. It is not about exclusion. It is about creating the conditions where honest clinical work is possible.

The Freeport program focuses specifically on accountability, emotional regulation, and the practical skills needed to rebuild stability in work, relationships, and daily life after discharge. Discharge planning is built into the program from the beginning, not bolted on at the end.

How Dual Diagnosis Treatment Works

Step 01 - Psychiatric Evaluation

The detox phase, which runs three to five days under around-the-clock medical supervision, addresses the physical clearance before residential treatment begins. Alongside that, the clinical team conducts a full psychiatric evaluation. The goal is to understand what is actually driving the substance use before building a treatment plan around it. A man managing undiagnosed PTSD and a man managing depression respond to treatment very differently, even if both are using the same substance.

Step 02 - Individual Counseling

Individual counseling is built around the specific picture that evaluation reveals, not a generic script applied to every patient who walks through the door. Sessions focus on the personal history, behavioral patterns, and emotional triggers that are specific to that man. The work is direct and practical because that is what produces results.

Step 03 - Group Therapy and Education

Group therapy exposes men to how other men in similar situations are working through the same patterns. Hearing someone else name the thing you have not said out loud yet is a clinical tool in its own right. Educational groups cover the science of how drugs affect the brain, what triggers look like in practice, and how to recognise early warning signs of relapse before they build into something worse.

Step 04 - Planning for Life After Rehab

Discharge planning is built into the program from the beginning, not bolted on at the end. The Freeport team works with each patient on what comes after treatment, including accountability structures, sober living options, and a realistic plan for the first 90 days. Men leave with practical skills for rebuilding stability in work, relationships, and daily life, not just good intentions.

Substances We Treat

The Freeport program addresses alcohol, opioids, including fentanyl and heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, benzodiazepines, and prescription drugs. Drug combinations are common, and the clinical team is experienced with managing the specific withdrawal and treatment requirements that come with polysubstance use. The detox phase, which runs three to five days under around-the-clock medical supervision, addresses the physical clearance before residential treatment begins.

  • Alcohol and alcohol use disorder.
  • Opioids, including fentanyl, heroin, and prescription painkillers.
  • Methamphetamine and stimulants.
  • Cocaine.
  • Benzodiazepines and prescription sedatives.

Why Brazos Place for Drug Rehab

Most drug rehab programs treat the substance. The Freeport program treats the person using it, which means the clinical team goes looking for what is underneath the addiction before building a treatment plan around it. A full psychiatric evaluation at intake is not optional here. It is the foundation everything else is built, because anxiety, depression, and unresolved trauma are present in the majority of men who enter this program, and treating only the substance use while leaving those conditions untreated is one of the most reliable ways to produce a relapse.

The dual-diagnosis model is not a specialty offering added on top of the standard program. It is how the program works. Both conditions get addressed together, with the same clinical team, in the same 30-day minimum residential stay.
